Some of you are familiar with my firmly held beliefs when it comes to the differences between assholes and douchebags. Tonight, this asshole tread dangerously close to the waters of the nefarious d-bag. The d-bag is not cunning, nor intelligent, but they tend to travel in packs that make them dangerous. You see, in this time, the assholes are a rare and dying breed. The Douchebags, however thrive.
I think it has to do mainly with their lack of willingness to wear condoms and prevent their lesser stock from being spread out into the gene pool.
I sat there, drink in hand, cigarette on my lips, wary of the coming of the douchebags. There music, some hellish amalgamation of hip-hop and country. Their tell tale signs, backwards baseball caps, collars flipped up under t-shirts, and some insipid blond on their lap, naively lapping up the bullshit that is spewed forth from his lips.
As I said, they travel in packs. Soon the bar was over run. Naturally I held my ground with a shield of cigarette smoke and armor of ambivalence.
Why does the asshole hate the douchebag? Assholes are truth. Douchebags are lies. We may not be a species that is known for being nice, caring, sensitive, or great at committed relationships, but one thing you can be sure of when associating with assholes: There will be no bullshit.
We do not go to the bar because it is Karaoke night. We go to the bar because it is a place to drink. It is a place to smoke. It is a place to watch those that we judge as an inferior breed, and label them as such.
Now, that last sentence is going to grind a few teeth. If you like me, you may be thinking, "Well why does he feel the need to judge others?" If you don't like me, fuck you. Why are you reading this? Go listen to your douchey bullshit white boy jazz.
Let me explain something to you. Judging other people based on how the present themselves is not a bad thing. It is human nature. It is a necessity. If I see a man with an upside-down visor and pre-torn Levis, I'm not going to provoke conversation with him. Why? Because he is conveying to me through his image the type of person he is. Does that mean he IS that type of person? Of course not. But I sure as hell am not going to waste my breath and precious moments in this world trying to get to know every possible interesting person that presents them self as something else.
We make judgments about everyone around us on a regular basis each and every day. We do so based on clothing, actions, speech, and yes, even skin color. That is not to say that skin color makes a person, but damn it...white people can scare the hell out of me. Especially in large groups. A lot of white people in one place can only create chaos. Just look at Colorado.
That's it for me. Time to gain rest for the day-job.
As always, love, peace, and a little less douchebaggery for us all.
I remain,
-G
